During the hot summer months, we can lose more water than usual—without even realizing it! Excessive sweating and increased body temperature can lead to dehydration, which may cause both short- and long-term health issues.

Signs of Dehydration
When your body loses more water than it takes in, you may experience :
- Extreme thirst – The first sign of dehydration
- Dry mouth and tongue – Due to reduced saliva production
- Dark yellow or orange urine – Urine should normally be light yellow
- Headache and dizziness – Your brain needs water to function properly
- Fatigue and weakness – Water helps with blood circulation
- Dry, dull skin – Water keeps your skin hydrated
- Heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat – Thicker blood makes the heart work harder

Severe Dehydration Symptoms
If dehydration continues over time, it can become life-threatening :
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
- Nausea or vomiting
- Very high body temperature and lack of sweating – risk of heatstroke
- Shock, unconsciousness, or irregular heartbeat
If these symptoms occur, drink plenty of water immediately and seek medical attention as soon as possible

How to Prevent Dehydration
- Drink at least 8–10 glasses of water daily—or more if you're out in the sun
- Carry a water bottle and sip often, even if you’re not thirsty
- Eat water-rich fruits like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and tomatoes
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine, as they cause further water loss
- If staying in the sun for a long time, drink electrolyte solutions to replenish minerals
