“Folic acid” is essential for pregnant mothers.

      Folic acid plays a crucial role in the process of creating neural tubes, which will develop into the central nervous system. This development occurs during the first 28 days after conception. Additionally, folic acid aids in the synthesis of proteins used in blood formation. Therefore, a deficiency in folic acid can lead to incomplete neural tube development in infants and may cause anemia or anemia in the mother. Today, we have a list of "folic acid-rich foods" for all pregnant mothers:

  • Leafy green vegetables: Such as spinach, cabbage, or kale. Consuming one large plate a day is sufficient for the body.
  • Legumes: Different types of legumes have varying amounts of folic acid. For example, one cup of red beans provides 131 micrograms, and one cup of black beans provides 230 micrograms. Therefore, mothers should consume a balanced and suitable amount.
  • Broccoli: Consuming one cup of broccoli provides the body with 26% of the required daily folic acid.
  • Citrus fruits: Most fruits are rich in folic acid, but citrus fruits, especially oranges, contain a significant amount of folic acid.
  • Eggs: Eggs are a nutrient-rich food, containing various vitamins and minerals. One egg yolk contains around 20 micrograms of folic acid.

      Pregnant mothers' bodies require about 800 micrograms of folic acid daily for optimal results. It's essential to start supplementing folic acid in the planning phase before pregnancy or 1-3 months before conceiving. However, it's crucial not to exceed 1 milligram per day, as excessive folic acid can inhibit the function of vitamin B12 and may lead to anemia.
