Things to know! For Social Security "Section 39 and 40" #2024ThisYearComfortableWorryFree
Social security is a system that establishes a safety net for individuals to maintain their livelihood within a group of social security members. It uses the principle of risk-sharing, where individuals pay monthly contributions to the social security fund in exchange for protection in case of illness, childbirth, disability, death, unemployment, and more.

  • Section 39 insured persons are individuals who have previously been insured under Section 33 and have left their jobs but still wish to maintain social security benefits, so they voluntarily apply.

             - Benefits and Protections for Section 39 Insured Persons: They receive coverage in 6 cases: illness, disability, death, childbirth, child support, and aging. They do not receive coverage in case of unemployment.

  • Section 40 insured persons are self-employed individuals, such as small business owners, freelancers, who have never been insured under Section 33 or Section 39 before.

            - Benefits and Protections for Section 40 Insured Persons: They receive coverage based on the selected plan but do not receive coverage for medical expenses when ill (unless a doctor prescribes a rest period, then they receive daily compensation).
